Recoating

Recoat in time and you put off sanding for years.

The finish is the layer that takes the wear. When it's scuffed and dull but the stain and the wood are still intact, we clean the floor, prep the old finish so the new coat bonds, and put a fresh coat over the whole floor.

It's faster and cheaper than a full refinish. And if the wear has already reached the wood, we'll tell you a recoat won't be enough.

From the owner

I'm with you from the first visit to the final walkthrough.

I've worked with hardwood for 15 years. Natural Flooring is my family's business, and we're based here in Overland Park, with our own office, showroom and warehouse.

Before we start, I walk the floor with you and we decide what it needs. While we work, you can call me with any question. When the floor is done, we walk it again together before we leave.

All questions

If the floor is dull but the color is even and there are no gray or bare spots, a recoat is usually enough. If the wear has gone through the finish into the wood, it needs sanding. We check at the free visit.

No. A recoat renews the finish on top. Scratches that cut into the wood need sanding.

It depends on traffic, pets and the finish. Recoating before the finish wears through is what lets you go years between full refinishes.
